100th Book in the Restoration Library

Today we just uploaded our 100th book to the Restoration Library! I wanted to take a minute and celebrate that.

A lot of work goes into each one of the books that you see here. Some have been digitized by others but many are done completely by the Restoration Library volunteers. So far, our volunteers have logged over 300 hours of time just on scanning and preparing books for this site. That doesn’t mention the hundreds of hours that were spent getting this organization started and the website up and running. So, I wanted to say thank you to all of those volunteers.

Of course, nothing happens here with out a little bit of money. We have a very very low administrative overhead. Most of the money donated to us goes directly into the scanning of books. There are several ways you can help support us financially. 1) you can directly mail us a check. 2) You can donate online by going to our donate page. 3) you can support us by shopping on smile.amazon.com. Please search for “Restoration Literary Project” when selecting an organization to support on smile.amazon.com.

Also, you can support us in other ways. We are always in need of books for scanning. While we have a large collection of books here that are in the process of being digitized we will run out soon. If you have a book or a collection of books and would like to lend them to us while we digitize them we would appreciate that. Please contact us before you send us any books so that we can check to see if we already have it. Often times we can even return the books to you if you want to keep them.

Lastly, I wanted to announce an exciting new service starting on February 1st. This new service will allow you to take advantage of our expertise in digitizing documents. We will be posting more details on this program soon but the idea is that you will be able to contract our services out for any “restoration era” book that you would like to see in digital format. The pricing will be VERY competitive!
